Brukenthal National Museum invites you between December 7, 2022 and January 29, 2023 to visit the exhibition "Youth without old age and life without death" opened in the temporary exhibition hall, second courtyard of Brukenthal Palace, Grand Square no. 4, in Sibiu. The exhibition presents an autobiographical video installation by writer and poet Cosmin Perța.
Youth without old age and life without death is an immersive experience that explores the idea of passage, transformation, evolution and decay, tradition and its erasure, memory and oblivion through the poetic history of a family. Revolt, powerlessness and evolution, only to perpetuate something that transcends any biological or cultural framework: the human capacity to dream and project possible futures. The concept is rendered in the video montage based on family album photographs illustrating the succession of generations in the Perța family. The archive images follow one another as the poem Youth without old age and life without death is recited by the author himself, over the course of 30 minutes in which we learn how the hopes, aspirations and destinies of certain people are passed on, practically from generation to generation, even with changes in context.
