Teutsch House

About

The Center of Dialog and Culture Friedrich Teutsch – the Teutsch House – is an institution of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession (i.e. a Lutheran Church) in Romania. The stately old building, the early twentieth-century chapel and the green courtyard near the former city wall form together an inviting place in the heart of Sibiu-Hermannstadt.
The Church Museum offers visitors a comprehensive chronological overview of the history of the Transylvanian Saxons and their church, the present Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Romania.
The Central Archive offers researchers the possibility to study the well-organized parish archives and to use the reading room of the Transilvanica-Library, connected to the archive.
The Cultural Center invites people through exhibitions, lectures and other events to an open public discourse focused in the fields of art, culture and social issues. Teutsch-House-based partners are the Center of Ecumenical Research Sibiu and the Erasmus bookshop-café.
St. John’s Chapel (Johanniskirche) hosts the local Lutheran and ecumenical spiritual life and is a place, where sacred art and music can find complete expression.
